Jam submission


This game has been created for the Solo Dev Game Jam#4. The theme of the jam was Two Button Controls, so that's what I did: you control the speed of the car using two buttons.

Pixel Slot Racing is a racing game inspired by the slot cars I played with when I was a child. In it's current state it has just one level and one car, but I would like to expand it and turn it into a full game.

Next steps

I have many ideas and there are a lot of things I want to implement but, for now, I want to focus on polishing what I already have. The most immediate roadmap would be something like (in no particular order of priority):

  • Clean-up code (some refactor of the current code).
  • Implement proper physics.
  • Improve asset loading.
  • Add menus like main menu and options/configuration menu.
  • Add audio.
  • Polish the assets.

Once those points are completed I will have a project easier to work with and I will be able to expand it and add new things.

About the devlog

At this point I'm not sure about writing a devlog. For one side I think it can be a good way to organize the ideas and share progress but, on the other hand, writing a proper devlog takes time and maybe it would be better to use that time doing other things.

That being said, I think I will give it a try.  For now I'm thinking about posting once per week or every two weeks, so I can make some progress and have something to write about from one post to the next one.
